BILLY BARTON

So kann der Begriff "Assoziation" mit einem guten Beispiel erklärt werden. Dieter bringt Laurie London wieder ins Gespäch und mir fällt daraufhin sofort Billy Barton ein, der bei uns noch nicht vertreten ist. Wo ist da jetzt das Assoziative werden manche fragen, ganz einfach. Barton veröffentlichte eine Single unter dem Pseudonym Laurel London, was vermutlich auch viele andere an Laurie London denken läßt.
Nach dieser schulmeisterlichen Einleitung jetzt endlich zur Kurz-Bio und Discografie.

Der Country- und Rockabillymusiker sowie Songschreiber Billy Barton wurde am 21. November 1929 in London, Kentucky, geboren. Seine ersten Sporen verdiente er sich mit Johnny Horton, welcher später sehr berühmt wurde. Barton selbst blieb eher ein Geheimtipp für spätere Rockabilly-Sammler. Sein bekanntester und damit auch erfolgreichster Titel aus seiner Feder war wohl "A Dear John Letter". 1954 heiratete er seine Sängerkollegin Wanda Wayne mit der er gelegentlich auch im Duett sang. *)
