Bislang konnte ich hier noch nichts über den jung verstorbenen Thomas Wayne finden.
Zwar eine Eintagsfliege, aber immerhin schaffte er es mit Tragedy bis auf Platz 5 der Billboard Hot 100.

Thomas Wayne (July 22, 1940, Batesville, Mississippi - August 15, 1971, Memphis, Tennessee) was an American singer. He is best remembered as a one-hit wonder for "Tragedy".
Wayne, who was born Thomas Wayne Perkins, was the brother of Johnny Cash's guitarist, Luther Perkins. He released several singles between 1958 and 1964, primarily on the labels Fernwood and Mercury. He scored a major U.S. hit with the song "Tragedy" (credited to Thomas Wayne with the DeLons), which peaked at #20 on the Black Singles chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959.[3] It sold over one million copies, earning gold disc status.
The song proved to be his only hit, however. Later, Wayne worked as a sound engineer, before he died in a car accident in Memphis in 1971.
Die Single Tragedy / Saturday date erschien in den USA (10/1958) auf Fernwood 45-109 und in UK (4/1959) auf London 8846.
Allerdings war Thomas Wayne nicht der Originalinterpret. Gerald Nelson war der Komponist und als Gerald Nelson & The Escorts hatte er 1958 einen lokalen Hit in Kentucky.
