Da Billy Mure schon öfters hier im Forum erwähnt wurde, als Begleitung von vielen anderen
Interpreten, hier der Anfang einer Rubrik extra für ihn.


Billy Mure was born 7.7.1915 in New York. He played violin by age five and switched to guitar at seven; by 13 he was composing. At the start of World War II he joined the U.S. Army and ended up leading an Air Corps band. After the war, he played at radio station WNEW until 1957. Thereafter, he worked as a session musician and arranger/conductor while establishing his own career as composer and recording artist. Some of his early compositions include "Gazachastaliagen," "Got a Match," and "String of Trumpets." He also played backing guitar on "Splish Splash" with Bobby Darin. Billy Mure's records appeal to pop and exotica fans as well as aficionados of early electric guitar. He was a pioneer of multi-track recording and studio sound effects for guitar.

Hallo,

eine Single und eine LP von Mr. Mure hätte ich noch zu bieten: "High Tide Boogie" ist ein nettes Gitarrenstück, ebenso die Rückseite, der Latino-Standard "El Cumbanchero" von 1960.
Die LP "Fireworks" (1958) enthält ebenfalls einige angenehm swingende Gitarren-Nummern. Aber herausragend sind die Titel "Firecracker" und "Crackerjack": zwei fantastische, in rasendem Tempo gespielte Boogie-Rocker - mit Gitarren-Overdubs a la Les Paul, aber in einem vollen, fetten Rock'n'Roll-Sound! Ein echtes Gitarren-Feuerwerk! Diese beiden Kracher nehmen Hank C. Burnettes "Spinnin' Rock Boogie" um fast zwei Jahrzehnte vorweg. Da zeigt der alte Billy Mure Duane Eddy und Co. wirklich, was 'ne Harke ist.
