Schließlich verließ sie Arto und Paramount und wechselte Mitte 1922 zur Cameo Record Company, einem weiteren unabhängigen Label mit Sitz in Manhattan, das sich auf Jazz- und Blues-Tanzmusik spezialisiert hatte. Als "Cameo Girl" bezeichnet, nahm Hegamin von 1922 bis Ende 1926 über vierzig Titel für Cameo Records auf, darunter “He May Be Your Man (But He Comes To See Me)“, ihr Signature-Song und eine der beliebtesten Blues-Nummern von die Periode.

Die Clarence Williams-Band begleitete sie am 28. September 1926 bei der Aufnahmesession für die Firma Columbia, wo die Titel “Nobody But My Baby Is Gettin' My Love“ und “Senorita Mine“ (beide Columbia 14164) entstanden. Diese Veröffentlichung sollte ihr innerhalb des breiten Publikums neue Anerkennung verschaffen. Doch ihre Aufnahme für Columbia verkaufte sich nicht, so dass seitens des Unternehmens auf eine Anschlusseinspielung verzichtet wurde.

Nachdem die schlimmen Auswirkungen der Wirtschaftskrise mit dem Jahr 1932 ein wenig gestoppt werden konnten, war auch Lucille am 04. März des Jahres wieder im Aufnahmestudio: Für die Firma OKeh entstanden zwei Einspielungen: “Shake Your Cans“ und “Totem Pole“ (beide OKeh 8941).

Das Experiment, sie wieder auf dem Plattensektor aufzubauen, ließ sich gut an, weil sie nichts von ihrer Spontaneität und Ausdruckskraft verloren hatte. Doch - wen wunderts hinsichtlich der finanziellen Beschränktheit der Musikhörer - ihre Schallplatte blieb erneut liegen, so dass ihre erste große Karriere definitiv im Jahre 1933 dem Ende entgegensteuerte.
Sie kam 1961 aus dem Ruhestand zurück. Das Prestige/Bluesville-Label in Englewood Cliffs holte sie im Jahr 1962 in ein Aufnahmestudio zurück, wo gemeinsam mit Willie The Lion and his Cubs einige Neuaufnahmen eingespielt wurden, die sich anschließend, nach der Veröffentlichung, auf dem Album “Songs We Taught Your Mother“ für Bluesville Records überraschend gut verkaufen ließen.
So schlossen sich im folgenden Jahr 1962 nochmals neue Schallplattenaufnahmen für das Spivey-Label in New York an. 1962 nahm sie “Basket of Blues“ für Spivey Records auf.
