1989 war er zusammen mit Brad Elliot (Buchautor), Andy Paley (Produzent) und Mark Linnett (Produzent)
im Tonbandarchiv unterwegs auf der (erfolglosen) Suche nach bestimmten Tonbändern.
Ich war noch nie bei einer großen Plattenfirma und habe mich deshalb gefreut, einmal einen Blick
in solch ein Musikarchiv werfen zu können.

Back in 1989, Andy Paley, Mark Linnett (who took the photo) myself and Brad Elliot (in front) made a dive into the Capitol Records tape archive to look for some "Smile" stuff Brad said he'd seen there earlier in the decade. We didn't find what he was looking for, but eventually it all happened. My book "Look! Listen! Vibrate! SMILE!" had been out... not yet a year. We ate after this at Brown Derby, which at the time, they had a new branch on the North-West corner of Hollywood & Vine, where Jack's Sugar Shack was later on. In 2012 I was the primary writer and photo editor on the book inside The Beach Boys' Grammy-winning "Smile Sessions" box set, basically the historian behind that years' "Best Historical Release." I like other groups and can still write good stuff, if you have a project you'd like to see done right.
