hatte hier notiert:

ALLEN, SHORTY, amerikanischer Jazz-Pianist (auch Vibraphon), Komponist, als Musiker aktiv bis Ende der 50er Jahre, Mitglied in diversen Orchestern (u.a. Fred Norman),

als Pianist arbeitete er u.a mit Sten Getz u. Ella Fitzgerald,
Ende 40er bis Anfang der 50er leitete er sein eigenes Orchester „The Arcadia Ballroom Band“ (der Posaunist Kai Winding begann hier seine Karriere),

1952 nahm er als Vibraphonist mit der Sängerin Leslie Uggams einige sehr erfolgreiche Kinderlieder auf,

sein 1955 komponierter Titel "The Rock & Roll Waltz" (gesungen von Kay Starr) war für einige Wochen # 1 der US-Charts,

Mitte bis Ende der 50 er Jahre nahm er einige Instrumental-Titel mit Background-Chor auf (Interpretation ähnlich Ray Conniff-Singers),

danach war er überwiegend nur noch als Arrangeur und Komponist tätig,

"Rock & Roll Waltz"

Alan Freed's Rock'n'Roll Party:
Songwriters Shorty Allen and Roy Alfred, always turning over new song ideas, were tuned into Alan Freed’s Rock ’n Roll Show one day, when the famous jockey happened to remark in connection with a record he was about to play, “The next thing we’ll have is rock and roll in waltz time.” That was all the fellows needed. They wrote the tune, the first rock ’n roller in that tempo in history, and based the lyrics on some of the romantic thoughts expressed in the many wires and letters received by Freed.

Habe gerade gesehen, dass wir seine Daten noch nicht haben:
SHORTY ALLEN lebte vom 26. April 1924 bis zum 6. April 2011
und sein richtiger Name war Philip William Alleluia. Er stammte
aus New Jersey und zog um 1940 nach New York, wo er mit seiner
Schwester lebte (die Mutter war 1929 verstorben).
