Sehr früh gab es bereits einen Gitarristen und Komponisten, der ebenfalls George Smith hieß, am 29. Jänner 1912 in New York City als George M. Smith geboren wurde und am 1. Juni 1993 in Houston, Texas, verstarb. Er war überwiegend als Studiomusiker tätig.
