Der Komponist, Arrangeur und Orchester-Leiter Hal Mooney wurde am 4. Februar 1911 in Brooklyn, New York, als Harald Mooney geboren und verstarb am 23. März 1995 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien. Nach seiner musikalischen Ausbildung in New York arbeitete er in diversen Clubs als Pianist und nach Ableistung des Kriegsdienstes ging er als Arrangeur nach Hollywood. 1954 kam er zu MERCURY, wo er mit seinem Orchester in erster Linie Dinah Washington, aber auch andere MERCURY-Stars begleitete.
