FRANCES LANGFORD

Wie kommt ein Rocknroller zu einer Platte von Frances Langford, einer Schauspielerin und Sängerin der Dreißigerjahre, deren letzter Film 1953 "The Glenn Miller Story" war, wo sie vermutlich nicht primär als Schauspielerin agierte, sondern sich als renommierte Sängerin dieser Zeit selbst dargestellt hat.
"Rocket In The Rocket Room" ist zwar nicht unbedingt Rocknroll, aber eine sehr gute flotte Nummer, an der auch ein Rocknroller Gefallen finden kann. Wie bei mir üblich, habe ich für die Vorstellung dieser Interpretin mit einer Kurz-Bio begonnen bei der ich aber entdeckte, dass die UNIQUE (in Kanada SPARTON) offensichtlich ihre letzte Single war. Doch erst bei Erstellung der Disco kam die Krux, denn vor ihrer vermutlich letzten hat sie eine Unzahl von Einspielungen gemacht und ich spürte immer stärker den Druck der schweren Ritterrüstung des musikalischen Mittelalters auf mir, ich habe aber bis zuletzt durchgehalten und es hinter mich gebracht. Vollständigkeit kann ich allerdings nicht garantieren.

Die Schauspielerin und Sängerin Frances Langford wurde am 4. April 1913 in Lakeland, Florida, als Frances Newbern Langford geboren und verstarb am 11. Juli 2005 in Jensen Beach, Florida.
