Der Country-Sänger, Songwriter und Gitarrist Charlie Walker wurde am 2. (26?) November 1926 in Copeville, Texas, als Charles Levi Walker Jr. geboren und verstarb am 12. September 2008 in Hendersonville, Tennessee, an Dickdarm-Krebs.
In den frühen Fünfzigern arbeitete Walker bei KENS in San Antonio, Texas, als Disc-Jockey, wodurch er Kontakt mit dem Musik-Business bekam. 1952 begann er mit Einspielungen bei IMPERIAL, ging dann zu DECCA und landete mit kleinen Abstechern bei COLUMBIA. Sein erster regionaler Hit, den er gemeinsam mit Jack Newman schrieb, war Ende 1955 "Only You, Only You" bei DECCA.
