Kurz-Bio:
Der Musiker Bill Black, er war unter anderem Bassist bei Elvis' erster Band, wurde am 17. September 1926 in Memphis, Tennessee, als William Patton Black, Jr. geboren und verstarb am 21. Oktober 1965, ers 39-jährig, an den Folgen eines Gehirn-Tumores ebenda.
Nach der Trennung von Presley's Band im September 1957 heuerte Bill Black bei einer Band an, die alsbald zur Instrumental-Formation Bill Black's Combo wurde. Neben Bill als Bassisten bestand sie aus Carl McVoy, Klavier, Martin Wills, Saxophon, Reggie Young, Gitarre, und Jerry Arnold, Schlagzeug. Ab 1961 gab es dann einige personelle Änderungen.
Noch ein interessantes Detail: Begonnen hat er bei HI als Begleitband und zwar von Jay B. Loyd, das war aber nur einmal, zumindest "offiziell".
