Fremdsprachige Texte in einem deutschen Forum mag ich zwar überhaupt nicht, aber ich habe Hardi's Einleitung zu diesem Thread trotzdem gelesen und war dann vollends verwirrt:

Bei Carl Butler's zweiten Charts-Eintritt, der dann sogar Platz 1 erreichte, war von seiner Ehefrau Pearl Dee Butler, geborene Jones, weit und breit nichts zu sehen. Ich machte mich aber im Netz schlau und fand darin den folgenden Hinweis:

Februar 1962 wurden im Columbia Recording Studio, 804 16th Ave. South, Nashville, TN, die Titel "Don't Let Me Cross Over" und "Wonder Drug" aufgenommen - Besetzung: Carl Butler [vokal], Pearl Butler [vokal], Grady Martin [Gitarre], Jackie Phelps [Gitarre], Ray Edenton [Gitarre], Pete Drake [Steel-Gitarre], Joe Zinkan [Bass], Willie Ackerman [Schlagzeug], Jerry Rivers [Geige]. Produzenten: Don Law & Frank Jones.
Die Songwriterin Pearl Butler, seit 1952 Carl's Ehefrau, die hier mitgesungen hat, wurde wie alle anderen Musiker behandelt und schien daher nicht auf dem Label auf, was die verwirrende Interpretenangabe auf dem Label erklärt. Jedenfalls hat sich das Ehepaar Butler wegen des großen Charts-Erfolges von "Don't Let Me Cross Over" dazu entschlossen, ab sofort die Aufnahmen fast nur mehr als Duett einzuspielen und als "Carl Butler And Pearl" zu veröffentlichen.
