Dieser Thread war ursprünglich für den Interpretennamen ”Carter Family” vorgesehen, aber ganz zaghaft tauchten auch die Carter Sisters hier auf (#3 & #26). Da sowohl die Carter Sisters, als auch Helen Carter für sich noch keinen eigenen Thread haben dachte ich mir, ich werde sie hier mit der Verwandtschaft vereinen. Neben kurzen Storys und Single-Disco habe ich den Thread auch suchmäßig präpariert, damit man beim Suchvorgang nicht nur die Carter Family, sondern sowohl die Carter Sisters, als auch Helen Carter solo leicht finden kann.
Kurze Story:
Als das Ensemble namens ”Carter Family” etwa 1943 durch Ausstieg von A. P. und Sara Carter sein Ende fand, gründete Maybelle Carter etwa 1943 mit ihren drei Töchtern die Formation "The Carter Sisters & Mother Maybelle”.

A. P. Carter (geboren am 15. Dezember 1891 in Maces Spring, Virginia, als Alvin Pleasant Carter und
..........verstorben am 7. November 1960 ebenda),
„Mother“ Maybelle Carter (geboren am 10. Mai 1909 in Nickelsville, Virginia, als Maybelle Addington) und
Sara Carter (geboren am 21. Juli 1898 in Copper Creek, Virginia, als Sara Dougherty und verstorben am 8. Jänner 1979
..........in Lodi, Kalifornien) bestand.
Sara und A. P. Carter waren von 1915 bis 1936 ein Ehepaar und Maybelle war mit dem Bruder von A. P. Carter verheiratet. Nach 1936 bestand die “Carter Family“ noch eine Zeit lang weiter, wurde aber im Jahre 1943 aufgelöst.
1952 gründete A. P. Carter mit seiner Ex-Frau Sara und Tochter Janette neuerlich eine "Carter Family", die sich bis 1956 hielt. Danach wurde der Gruppenname “Carter Family" fallweise von den restlichen, noch aktiven Carters verwendet.
