Richard St. John Gosting wurde 1940 geboren und verunglückte am 27. Dezember 2003 tödlich, als er vom Dach seines Hauses stürzte. Für die Musik-Branche (z. B. als Autor) verkürzte er seinen Namen auf Dick St. John. Mary Sperling, geboren 1945, wurde zu Deedee Sperling. Bereits in den Fünfzigern bildeten sie das Gesangs-Duo Dick and Deedee, aber erst 1961 hatten sie mit "The Mountain's High" ihren ersten und größten Erfolg. Dick St. John machte ab 1960 auch einige Solo-Versuche, die aber keinen Erfolg brachten.
