Der Radio- und TV-Star Arthur Godfrey, der auch plattenmäßig als Sänger und Musiker in Erscheinung trat, wurde am 31. August 1903 in Manhattan, New York, als Arthur Morton Leo Godfrey geboren und verstarb am 16. März 1983, 79-jährig, im Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan an den Folgen eines Emphysems, welches vermutlich bereits ab den frühen Achtzigerjahren durch jahrzehntelanges Rauchen und durch die Strahlenbehandlungen für seinen Lungenkrebs entstanden ist.
