I Can't Give You Anything But Love

Für mich ist der Titel dieses Forums keine Verzierung, sondern ein Fakt und er war daher auch der wichtigste Grund für mich, sich diesem Forum anzuschließen. Daraus folgert aber auch, dass ich mit dem Zeitraum 1928 bis 1945 nicht das Geringste anfangen kann. Andererseits liegt der Ursprung dieses hier beschriebenen Songtitels im Jahre 1928 was zur Folge hat, dass man bei der Beschreibung der Wurzeln solcher Evergreens sich zwangsläufig in die weit zurückliegende Vergangenheit begeben muss, aber dafür hat Heino bereits in ausreichender Weise gesorgt.
Die folgende Aufstellung weist daher nur alle 45 RPM-Single aus, die in der Zeit vom März 1949 (Einführung der 45 RPM-Single) bis zum Jahre 1963 (fiktives Ende der Forums-Abteilung ”R & R -Ära”) mit diesem Songtitel in den USA auf den Markt kamen.

Als die TELDEC im Jahre 1956 die Rechte für RCA Victor aus den USA bekam wurde beschlossen, dass die amerikanischen Bestellnummern auch im deutschsprachigen Raum verwendet werden, wie es bereits bei CAPITOL gehandhabt wurde. Für Eigen-Koppelungen wurde daher die Nummernserie 47-9100 geschaffen und jetzt komme ich zum Thema dieses Threads. Als erste Single für diese Serie wurde “Dungaree Doll“ von Eddie Fisher ausgewählt, weil die Original-B-Seite “Everybody’s Got A Home But Me“ den Bossen offenbar nicht zusagte und sie daher als eigene B-Seite die weit besser Aufnahme “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love“ von einer Eddie Fisher-LP verwendeten. Kaum zu glauben, aber ein einziges Mal gehe ich mit diesen Bossen sogar d’accord. Jedenfalls gab es die Eddie Fisher-Version nur bei uns auch auf Single.

Übrigens gab es die deutschsprachige Version „Ist dein kleines Herz für mich noch frei, Baby“ auch zeitmäßig zum Forum passend im Jahre 1960 von Jean Thomé auf einer ARIOLA-EP.
