"Russ Reagan, now a major figure in the recording industry, was just starting out in late 1961....
Reagan remembered that the A & R man over there was a friend of mine named Joe Saraceno.
He called me to play a record over the telephone. ...
"So", Russ continued, "I said", `Who is it ?` And he said "Ìt´s a new group we´re signing here at Candix;
called the Surfers.`And I said, `Joe you can´t call the the Surfers.There is a group over on Hi-Fi Records
called the Surfers. They are from Hawaii.` And he said, `You know something, you´re right.
I forgot about that. We´re gonna come up with a name.` So I laughing said, `why don´t you call them
the Lifeguards or the Beach Bums, the Woodies, anything to do with the beach.`
So finally I said, `I got it, why don´t you name them the Beach Boys!"
