Kurz-Bio:
Der Bandleader und Orchesterleiter Lucky Millinder wurde am 8. August 1910 in Anniston, Alabama, als Lucius LeRoy Millinder geboren und wuchs bereits ab seinen ersten Lebensjahgr in Chicago auf, wo er bereits von klein auf Lucky genannt wurde. Er verstarb am 28. September 1966 in Harlem, New York City, erst 56-jährig, an einem Leberleiden.
Er begann seine Karriere in den späten Zwanzigerjahren als Zeremonienmeister und Tänzer und obwohl er weder Notenlesen konnte, noch ein Musikinstrument beherrschte, leitete er ab etwa 1930 eine Band und tourte mit ihr sogar nach Europa und wurde so in der Folge zu einem der größten und einflußreichsten Tanzband- und Orchesterleiter dieser Zeit. Das brachte ihn vermutlich auch den Titel „Ehrwürden" (enlisch: venerables) ein.
