Kurz-Bio:
Der Schlagersänger Lee Lawrence wurde am 1. September 1920 in Salford, Lancashire, heute Greater Manchester, England, als Julius Leon Sirota geboren und verstarb am 26. Februar 1961 erst 40-jährig, bei einer Westindien-Tournee auf der Insel der Niederländischen Antillen, Aruba, an einer Herzattacke.
Seine Eltern waren Opernsänger was vermutlich den Ausschlag dazu gab, dass er mit 16 Jahren für drei Jahre nach Italien ging und Operngesang studierte. Nach der Rückkehr leistete er seinen Militärdienst ab. Beim Militär betätigte er sich auch musikalisch und da dürfte er den Weg zur sogenannten "leichten Muse" gefunden haben. Bereits 1949 unterschrieb er bei DECCA und machte seine ersten Aufnahmen. Im Dezember 1953 hatte er mit "Crying In The Chapel" seinen ersten TOP 10 Charts-Erfolg mit Platz sieben. Als etwa um 1956 der Rocknroll immer populärer wurde, nagte dies an seiner Popularität und so fing er an, die Vertreter dieses Genres wie Elvis, Gene Vincent, Tommy Steele etc., zu parodieren und wie mein subjektiver Eindruck mir sagt, garnicht so übel. 1957 ging er in die Staaten, wo er Tourneen mit "Cabaret Shows" machte und auch einige Schallplatten-Einspielungen bei APOLLO und KAPP tätigte.
