SWAN
11 61....S 4089-Y....CODY BRENNAN & the TEMPTATIONS..Ruby Baby/-M….Am I The One
03 62....S-4103-T....CODY BRENNAN and The Temptations..Tragic Honeymoon/-S….Shake The Hand Of A Fool

in mehreren Fällen zeigte.
Tage schauen.

Peter Viney schrieb beispielsweise:
The story behind the credits took some research. I'm indebted to Bill Millar for clearing it all up. It seems that the song was indeed written by Don Burch, the lead singer of The Slades, and published by Balconer Music, as was The Shields version. The Roulette versions, credited to Helm, are published by Patricia Music, a company named after Roulette boss Maurice Levy's wife. Roulette was a mob company and they put names, real or non-existent, on composer credits in case there was any money in it. Bill Millar points out that songs by Larry Williams, Billy Emerson and Young Jesse may have been credited to Hawkins-Magill, let alone "40 Days"; and that "You Cheated" was credited to Helm. Incidentally, Ronnie Hawkins has said he doesn't know who Magill was *! Whatever the money would have gone to Roulette and Levy rather than Levon. In another example outright gangster Gaetano Vartela received song credits. "You Cheated" never sounded like a Helm song, and I'd wondered for years why he'd never followed this Ruben and The Jets-like alley.
-- Peter Viney

* According to Bill Munson, "Magill" is probably Jacqueline Magill, Morris Levy's girlfriend. She is given credit on 13 songs on the first two Ronnie Hawkins LPs on Roulette. Among them are the two songs on Mr.Dynamo co-credited to Robbie Robertson. Former Hawks-member Scott Cushnie, who played with Robbie in the early group The Suedes, claims that Robertson didn't write them either:

"Just about everybody knows that Ronnie Hawkins soon hired Robbie Robertson into his Hawks, but few know that he hired (and fired) Scott Cushnie first. Fewer still are aware that the two Robertson 'originals' recorded by Hawkins on his early Mr Dynamo album were really songs from the Suedes repertoire, both at least partly written by Scott! Perhaps surprisingly, Scott remains understanding: 'I wasn't around to sign the songs over to the record company, but Robbie was. It's not as if he got any money for them.'"

Wikipedia schreibt u.a.:
"Levy first married Patricia Caraeff (née Patricia Byrne) on August 26, 1950, in Manhattan. She had been the widow of Edward Isidor Caraeff (1915–1950). Morris Levy named one of his companies, "Patricia Music," after her. They divorced in 1954 in Dade County, Florida".

"Levy, who died in 1990 weeks away from reporting to serve a 12-year federal prison sentence for racketeering and extortion.

Levy, a staple of the recording industry for three decades and the owner of influential Roulette Records, a chain of music stores and a number of nightclubs and performance venues around New York City, was close to Genovese organization brass like legendary Godfather Vincent (The Chin) Gigante and capo Dominick (Baldy Dom) Canterino. Gigante passed away of natural causes behind bars in 2005. Canterino, Levy’s co-defendant in his RICO case, died in prison too.

Big Nat McCalla was Levy’s right-hand man and vice president of Roulette Records, as well as the owner of a tiny R&B music label backed by Levy named Calla Records, responsible for the 1965 Top 20 hit “Let Me Down Easy” sung by Betty LaVette and JAMF Publishing (JAMF stood for ‘Jive Ass Mother Fucker’). Throughout his career, Levy became infamous for a wide publishing-rights portfolio, drawing controversy for rechanneling millions of dollars-worth of residuals into his pockets instead of his artists".
