Die Country-Musikerin, Sängerin und Gitarristin Wilma Lee wurde am 7. Februar 1921 in Valley Head, West Virginia, als Wilma Lee Leary geboren und verstarb am 13. September 2011 in Sweetwater, Tennessee. Bereits in ihrer Jugend sang sie mit Eltern und Geschwister in einer eigenen Gospelmusik-Gruppe. 1939 heiratete sie den Sänger und Fiddler Stoney Cooper (geboren am 16. Oktober 1918 in Harman, West Virginia, als Dale Troy Cooper, verstorben am 22. März 1977), der bei den Leary Family Singers als Begleitmusiker tätig war. Gemeinsam mit befreundeten Musikern bildeten sie die Bluegrass-Formation Clinch Mountain Clan, wo sie für den Gesangspart, sowohl solo als auch im Duo zuständig waren.
