Colchester - Melvin D. Beck, 71, of 514 S. Elizabeth St., Colchester, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 24, 1996 at the Irvine Medical Center in Irvine, Calif.
He was born Sept. 9, 1925 in Colchester to Cecil and Lillie (Depoy) Beck.
He married Carol Bennett on Sept 30, 1960 in Quincy. She survives.
He is also survived by his mother of Macomb ; three daughters, Lana Walker of Mission Viejo, Calif., Tammy Washington of Temecula, Calif., and Jeri Harper of Colchester ; six grandchildren ; two great grandchildren ; and one brother, Ralph Beck of Colchester.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ronald Beck.
Mr. Beck was owner/operator of Becks Snack Bar since 1966. He was a life long musician and played with the Beck Brothers Band for 40 years, owned and operated the Fandon General Store for many years in Fandon, and worked for Fender Guitar Co. in California when the Fender Guitar Co. was first founded.
